MagLine Incremental
How it works
MagLine Incremental systems are a combination of:
- Band (required)
- Sensor (required)
- Translation module (depends on system)
- Display or PLC
The band is attached1 to the measurement surface.
The sensor is mounted within a range of the band2, but the band and sensor do not actually make physical contact.
1 The band is usually mounted with the attached adhesive backing, but it can also be clamped, screwed or glued down 2 This range is called the sensor gap or rideheight
The band is manufactured with evenly-spaced North and South magnetic poles along its length.3
As the powered sensor is moved along the path of the band, it outputs a number of pulses between each pole.
3 The distance between the poles is called the pole pitch
The pulses are received by a SIKO display or a PLC and the displayed position is increased or decreased accordingly.4
4 Increase or decrease is determined by the phase of the A/B rising pulses
